Taste of Prague Podcast, Ep 14 - Global Covid Update

This podcast episode will be a bit different. First, it’s in English. (We know, long overdue!) And second, we’re not interviewing one or two people who work together. Oh no, today we’re interviewing several people who represent several cities.

The idea behind this podcast episode is simple: call some of our favorite people in our favorite destinations and ask them about their current situation - how is the city coping with the pandemic, how has the food and hospitality industries been affected, what’s the general feeling in the society, how is the vaccination effort going, and what is the outlook for the future near and far. You see, what you hear through the media is one thing, but we wanted to hear about the real experience of people who live in some of our favorite destinations. We can’t wait to travel, and this is a little trip down memory lane for us.

So what cities are we covering and with whom? We’re talking Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, New York City, and Melbourne.

PARIS

Paris is represented by Lindsey Tramuta, aka Lost in Cheeseland, Paris-based journalist and the author of The New Paris and The New Parisienne. You should check her blog, instagram and obviously the books.

BERLIN

Berlin is represented by Per Meurling, aka Berlin Food Stories, the best Berlin-based food blogger and guide. If you are reading or listening to this from Berlin and haven’t subscribed to his Patreon page yet, we have one question for you: „What’s wrong with you, honestly?“

COPENHAGEN

Copenhagen is represented by Cindie, the owner of Foods of Copenhagen, the best food tours in the Danish capital. Hers was the only food tour we have ever taken ourselves, actually. (We know, shame on us.) And Cindie was JJ’s first-ever babysitter while we dined at Noma, so that’s that.

London

London is represented by Tereza, aka Hladová, a Czech-born food blogger who has been living and working in London for the past two years and currently works at Big Jo bakery, the new bakery take-out and restaurant by the infamous Jolene.

New York City

NYC is represented by Kat Odell, NYC-based food writer for Eater.com and a book author. You should know two things about Kat: she is a regular visitor to Prague, having Czech roots herself, and she is the woman behind Eater.com’s Prague coverage. And her husband is Mike Bagale, former Executive Chef at Chicago’s Alinea, and the inventor of the flying dessert. ‚Nuff said.

Melbourne

Melbourne is represented by Natasha, aka Butter Baking, a famous baking blogger and a mom of an adorable 15-month old. Her family joined us for a tour back when they were visiting her family in Poland, and we’ve been in touch ever since.
